Equinix Fabric 2023.5 is available as of October 2023.

This release of Equinix Fabric introduces Geo Boundary connection control feature, Quick Connect to Amazon Web Services, service providers search tool and the ability to connect multiple Network Edge virtual devices deployed in the same metro to a single network object.

Connection Control – Geo Boundary

Geo Boundary ensures that the traffic associated with the given connection is contained within a specific geographic boundary. This is an optional feature that can be enabled during the create connection process when both the origin and destination are contained within an existing Geo Boundary zone. You can use the Geo Boundary feature to deploy connectivity solutions that require traffic to stay within geographic borders such as data sovereignty and data residency use cases.

Quick Connect to AWS Direct Connect

Quick Connect to AWS Direct Connect enables a more efficient experience when creating connections to AWS. In addition, it provides the ability to create redundant connections in a single transaction from the Quick Connection workflow. For more information, see Quick Connect to AWS Direct Connect.

Service Provider Search Tool

Equinix Fabric enables instant access to hundreds of network, communication, security and cloud providers. Service provider search tool helps you find a service provider that caters to your business needs. For more information, see Find a Service Provider.

Connect Multiple Virtual Devices to an EVP-LAN Network

Connect all of your redundant, clustered and single-instance Network Edge virtual devices, located in the same metro, to a single network object to create a global WAN. For more information, see Connect to EVP-LAN Network.

Equinix Fabric 2023.2 is available as of April 2023.

This release of Equinix Fabric includes the ability to use Network Edge devices in multipoint-to-multipoint connections. Additional new features include support for redundant Equinix Metal connections for Z-side tokens, and an API that displays all the VLANs used on a port.

EVP-LAN for L2 Multipoint-to-Multipoint Service

The October release of Equinix Fabric provided the ability to create EVP-LAN multipoint L2 networks with support for any-to-any, full mesh connectivity between multiple Equinix metros or locations. Now you can create a multipoint EVP-LAN network and connect to that network from Fabric ports and Network Edge virtual devices. This new capability eliminates the need to create direct connections between individual locations, and is limited to a single virtual device per metro. See Multipoint-to-Multipoint Connections and EVP-LAN Support for Network Edge for more information.

Service Token Enhancements

You can create a pair of connections from your redundant virtual devices with two separate Z-side service tokens and then view, edit, and delete them from your Connections Inventory. For instructions on creating redundant connections to redundant Network Edge devices, see Create Connections with Z-Side Tokens.

With this release you can also use an A-side service token to grant access to Z-side service token connections. The A-side token provider will be billed for the connection.

Display VLANs for Ports API

Equinix Fabric now provides an API that returns all the VLANs that are being used on a specific Fabric port. This allows users to provide better VLAN assignment for new Fabric connections on existing ports. For more information about Fabric APIs, check out Equinix Fabric API Documentation.

Fabric and Network Edge customers can now use an A-side service token to connect to a Network Edge device through a private Network Edge service profile. See Create a Network Edge Service Profile to learn how to set up a private Network Edge Service Profile. See Create Service Tokens for instructions on creating the A-side token. See Connect to a Private Network Edge Service Profile for details on using a service token to connect to a private Network Edge service profile.

Bandwidth Resize and Connection Name Update for Service Token Connections

Connections created using A-side and Z-side service tokens can now be updated with a new name and a new bandwidth. The new charges associated with bandwidth changes for Z-side connections clearly display during the editing process. See Create Connections with an A-Side Token and Create a Connection with a Z-Side Token for instructions on editing service token connections.
