Equinix Internet Access 2023 September release is available.

Along with Internet Access with dedicated ports, Equinix now offers Internet Access with Fabric as a generally available release. New options for service configurations and geographic availability are included.

General Availability for Internet Access with Fabric

With the expiration of its free trial period, Equinix Internet Access with Fabric is now widely available. Customers can sign into their Fabric portal accounts to order single connection services that are available immediately for use. Internet Access services that were set up during the trial period will continue without interruption as paid services. For more information, see Internet Connection with Fabric.

Additional Values for IPv4 Subnets and Minimum Bandwidth

Expanded options for IPv4 subnet addresses are now available. Customers who order new services can select additional IP values from /30 to /24. In addition, more bandwidth values offer more flexibility to match the projected service usage. The Internet Access details section in Order Internet Access Using the Fabric Portal describes how to specify these options.

Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) Option

With this release of Internet Access with Fabric, users can choose a direct, static, or BGP routing protocol for their configurations. To learn more about ordering this option, see the routing configuration information in Order Internet Access Using the Fabric Portal.

Equinix Internet Access 2023.1 is available February, 2023.

This new version of Equinix Internet Access is available in more than 50 metro locations around the globe. With this release, Equinix delivers an improved ordering and self-service experience, as well as the option of usage-based billing.

Resiliency and Availability

Each metro location includes at least two upstream providers. In addition, each metro comes with a 99.99% availability SLA for dual-port configurations. This resiliency rate offers the benefits of two providers in one.

Options for Port Connections

Users can connect to the internet through port speed options of 1, 10, or 100 Gigabit. Additionally, Equinix Internet Access also offers single- or dual-port deployment options for one- or two-port connections.

IP Allocation

Equinix Internet Access supports IPv4 and IPv6 address types. Customers have the option of supplying their own IP addresses (for provider-independent configurations). Or, Equinix can provide IP addresses (for provider-assigned configurations).

Supported Protocols and Routing

Various protocols are available, including Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) with static and direct routing over 1G, 10G, and 100G single or dual port connections. In addition, 100G port connections are available in select markets.

Billing Options

Three options are available with this release:

  • Fixed bandwidth billing – A fixed monthly recurring charge that allows you to choose your maximum bandwidth.

  • Usage-based billing – No traffic limitation is applied, and the rate is limited by the selected port speed. You pay for the amount of data sent out to the internet on a charge per gigabyte (a minimum monthly charge applies).

  • Burst billing – A monthly recurring charge, based on the selected bandwidth commitment with additional charges if your traffic exceeds that level. Traffic can burst up to your port speed (overage charges are based on the 95th percentile of the traffic rate for that month).
